Roomy is the space where we host the ATExplorers community. We think of it like a Discord alternative and use it as such. Roomy is still undergoing major development and is constantly changing and improving. We're very excited to see where it goes!
What is Roomy?
Roomy likes to over-complicate their descriptions of what Roomy is and often gets hung up in using metaphors and long-winded lines of text about the potentials of the app. Case in point, here's their elevator pitch:
Roomy is a freeform communications playground for messages both big and small, fast and slow; in these roomy spaces we move together at the speed of understanding.
And here's what their explainer of what Roomy is:
Did you understand any of that? If you did, please don't explain it to us - we just use the things!
To sum up what Roomy apparently can't (no offense Roomy), Roomy is a group chat that allows users to organize virtual communities called "spaces".
What can I do on Roomy?
If you've used the big bad Discord, you basically already know how to use Roomy - although right now, it's just group chat. We've heard they're working on a whole lot more but as we said previously, this app is still in major development.
You can either join an already made space, like the official Roomy space or our ATExplorers community, or you can create your own space. Give it a name, a cool avatar and decide who gets to join it.
Within each space are categories of channels. The channels are where the conversations live. Threads can also be used to keep discussions around specific topics contained.
